Radio, Twitter, Blogs and street conversations are all full of rumors now.
Unconfirmed: Fort Pitt Bridge Closure as of 5:30pm today
Many reports of FBI, police, Men in Black showing up at folks houses asking lots of questions and some have even claimed they were threatened with arrest if they were seen downtown. If true, this alone is reason to protest.
Confirmed: National Guard on mountain bikes in Oakland (riding illegally, I might add).
Speaking of bikes, I was thinking of biking in town tomorrow, but I also heard that cops are enforcing the ridiculous front and rear light ordinance for bikes – and seizing them! They can have my bike when they pry it from my cold dead crotch. Uh… that didn’t come out like I intended. Either way, I better walk. I am sure skateboards are out of the question.

Um, what’s with the camo anyway? It’s a CITY. OK, Pittsburgh is greener than most, but c’mon already. Do they think nobody will see them? “Hey look – there’s a bunch of disembodied riot helmets floating over there!”
And I have myself all set up to be able to post videos to YouTube on the go from my iPhone. The YouTube videos automatically turn into a blog post here, which will then be tweeted… assuming the rumor of intentional cellphone network shutdown is true. Even if it isn’t on purpose, I don’t expect the networks to hold up very well.
I totally believe the bike thing. It’s actually state law that pedalcycles a.k.a. bikes riding sunset-sunrise must have a headlamp or flasher on the front and a red reflector or flasher on the back. Check Section 3705(a) for more information. It’s rarely enforced, and the maximum fine is $10. There is nothing about seizing in the statue.

Oh I believe it too. But I wonder if they can enforce it during daylight. And I am not sure where the seizure part of the rumor came from.
