How much do you want to bet this blog is going to go in a medical/health care direction in the near future?
Last week I went to see a doctor for the first time in about 20 years. Decided I should get a physical and get a few minor things checked out while I can still afford the COBRA insurance.
I missed a call from the doctor’s office today. My exam included some blood work and I am thinking the Doc was calling to let me know about that. Hopefully nothing bad showed up in whatever tests were done.
Another possibility is that my former employer may have screwed up and “forgot” to keep me on the insurance through the COBRA plan. I took a look at my insurance provider’s web site tonight and saw that my doctor visit claim was denied. Huh?! I found the doctor on the insurance company’s provider list, so I know it isn’t that she is “not in the network” or some crap like that. I will probably have to play that little game with them where you have to file a claim, get denied, call them and tell them the doctor is in network, lather rinse repeat.
Either way, tomorrow is a handful of uncomfortable phone calls.

Just an update – after playing phone tag with the doctor’s office, all is well. They were just calling to let me know that.
